Team (or subcommittee) meetings are small, focused, and held as needed, depending on the coalition’s priorities. Teams are authorized by and report back to the steering committee. As we are powered by volunteers, we enthusiastically welcome participation from all coalition members. If you’d like to get involved or form a new team, please get in touch.
Deep Green Faith & Practice Team
Robert Desmarais Sullivan, Chair
This team seeks to foster a deeper alignment between our physical actions, which affect the natural world, and our deeply-held values, respecting the sacredness of the world. We’ll aim to address topics that range from the energy efficiency of our houses of worship to the food that we serve.
We work to keep the GNOICC informed of local, state and federal environmental policy issues, changes and proposals.
Father Jay Angerer, Chair
Mission & Affiliation Team
Kristina Peterson, Chair
This team explores potential affiliations — linking with other groups both in concert with our ideals and maybe just on a similar task, including service-learning partnerships with educational institutions. We establish organizational goals in line with our mission through an inclusive visioning process. We also review our mission from time to time. The Communications Team currently meets with this team.
Ann Maier, Chair
The Engagement Team connects Greater New Orleans Interfaith Climate Coalition (GNOICC) to individuals, including youth, and to organized groups, including of young people and their families. The team helps identify avenues for people to participate in meaningful learning activities that deepen understanding and respect for the Earth in a positive setting. Coordination, support and participation for these activities is a shared responsibility of the Engagement Team and other GNOICC teams. We welcome team members of all ages and skill sets. Our team reflects the values of compassion, cooperation, justice, respect and nonviolence that we seek to embody in a future sustainable world.
Bart Everson, Chair
