Recent Updates in AI Data Center Northern Louisiana
Hyperion, Meta’s massive AI data center under construction in Richland Parish, is now projected to cost $27 billion — a significant increase from last year’s initial estimate of $10 billion. This revised figure includes “the buildings and long-lived power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure at the campus,” according to Meta’s latest update.
Remarks made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in July revealed that the facility will be approximately 150 times larger in area than originally planned. Under the incentive package approved for Meta, the company is eligible for a 30-year exemption from sales and property taxes. Instead, Meta will make a payment in lieu of taxation (PILOT), equivalent to a portion of its total tax liability.
