Earthjustice and a coalition of environmental and community groups strongly oppose H.R. 1949 (the “Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2025”), arguing that the bill would strip the Department of Energy of its responsibility to evaluate the full economic, climate, and community impacts of expanded liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, effectively expediting approvals and increasing greenhouse gas emissions, energy costs, and pollution burdens on frontline and low-income communities while undermining public interest review and locking in decades of fossil fuel reliance.
